WPC – Wairau Paint Centre
WPC Wairau Paint Centre was devastatingly impacted by the Anniversary floods, with 1.2 metres of water surging through the building and wiping out nearly everything. It was heartbreaking - a real test of resilience, adaptability and the Kiwi can-do attitude. But in true whānau spirit, everyone sprang into action.
With the amount of water that went through, they almost lost everything, so as a whānau-owned business, there was never a question - we rallied. Schedules were shifted, long hours were worked and every ounce of energy went into helping to get WPC back on its feet and trading again as quickly as possible.
We were proud to be entrusted with the full commercial rebuild and fit-out of this space - a project that included four office areas, a kitchen, bathroom, a new retail showroom and a technically complex four-hour fire-rated paint mixing room. It demanded collaborative thinking, problem-solving and careful navigation through council regulations and compliance processes.
The vision was clear - open up the space and create a functional, future-proofed working environment built to support growth and resilience.
This project is one that embodied manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga and the power of kotahitanga. Working alongside our whānau to rebuild the WPC spaces was a privilege. The result is a modern, resilient space with an open, practical design and a renewed sense of pride and purpose.
This was more than a rebuild - it’s a reminder of why we do what we do. Getting to play a part in something that really makes a difference was pretty special.
