One Queen Street
Client: Brightline Construction for LT McGuiness
Hutch Construct had the privilege of building Levels 12–14 and the rooftop terrace for One Queen Street, now known as the Deloitte Centre. We were contracted by Brightline Construction to deliver this work as part of the base build led by LT McGuinness.
LT McGuinness is known for its industry-leading health and safety protocols, clean, hazard-free sites, regular toolbox meetings, and a culture of accountability and high quality builds. At Hutch Construct, we take health and safety extremely seriously. On this site, we maintained an impeccable safety record and were proud to be recognised with a Health & Safety award during the course of the project.
Health and safety isn’t just about compliance, it’s about ensuring our team members return home safely to their whānau every day. That responsibility is something we carry with pride.
This project was especially rewarding for our team. Commercial builds bring a different dynamic, more structure, more process, and greater complexity. In this case, we were working in a live environment, which added another layer of coordination and care.
Beyond the technical challenges, this build tested us in unexpected ways. We faced major disruptions, including COVID-19, Auckland’s floods in early 2023, and the tragic shooting incident on site in July of that year. These events brought the entire team closer together. The duty of care shown by LT McGuinness and Brightline during these difficult times was nothing short of inspirational.
We’re incredibly proud of what we delivered under such challenging circumstances. Projects like this don’t just make you better builders, they make you a stronger team.
